I was born into a small tribe of people who where named as paricidas...traitors. We lived in the Sirine Wood and were the last of those who had harnessed the power found deep in the mines of Rhayine. Our land was tarnished and barren. A once great Kingdom reduced to rubble and its people either dead or living in fear of persecution. The forests weren't safe, the creatures my people had once controlled developed their own minds and turned upon us. We lived in fear, we were a mere shadow of an existence, leeching off the already desolate land. Across the sea lay hope. For almost two hundred years my people have lived a poor existence in the woods on the island of Rhayine. Our numbers dwindling as disease spread through the small village that was erected in the heart of the forest. I was born on the cold damp floor of our thatched home my father built from the surrounding forest. I was a quiet child and spent my early years wrapped safely in swaddling against my mothers chest. Our lives were hard...the summers where sticky and damp. When it rained rivers would begin to flow through the village washing away many of the homes built. I learn't quickly from my father how to survive and as soon as I could walk, I was at his side watching a learning. |
